It looks to me like your Afaria server machine is either blocking ports to the internet OR has no connection to the internet. OR is blocking replies from the internet.
I remember have simular trouble when I setup my first cloud based Afaria 7 server. It turned out that various ports were being blocked by the cloud services themselves (Not my Afaria server machine).
TEST: What happens if you try GoogleURL and TinyURL from a browser on the Afaria 7 server - I presume these work ?
